Intergraph Reactor and ICR2 slo-mo

by Berry Kaise » Thu, 31 Oct 1996 04:00:00

Hi everyone,

I received my Intergraph Reactor yesterday and must say that I'm impressed.
Installation was a snap and everything works fine. However, has anyone
experienced what seems to me slow motion during the replays on Rendition
ICR2? Everything is very smooth but slower than what I feel is real time.
This is mostly apparent during replays although actual driving seems
slightly slower, albeit again much smoother than what I was used to in the
regular SVGA version. Am I not configuring something right or is this just
my imagination?<G> As a comparison, Quake is noticeably faster and at a
higher resolution than I have normally used.

Any comments or suggestions?

Berry,

You are not alone.  It seems to be intermittent, try reloading indyfast
several times, rebooting, etc.   Also install the latest patch from the
Intergraph web site, the one for Indycar II.  I have not had it happen to me
since I installed the patch.  You can tell right away when it loads up, during
the demo, it is noticeably slow or fast depending on if it is working
correctly or not.

Good luck!

Todd

Todd,

Thanks a million for the suggestion, it worked! I had noticed that patch on
the Intergraph site, but hadn't given it much thought since the description
said the file was for non-Pentium users. Whatever it did to the indycar.exe
file worked great. Now everything is at perfect speed during driving and
replays. The only depressing part is with the Rendition version my replay
time is considerably shorter due to all the bells and whistles. Looks like
it's time to upgrade from 16mb to 32mb.<G>

If the latest Patch doesnt fix the problem, Please contact the
game vendor to see if its a known problem they are working.  If
anyone is experiencing this problem on other vendors cards it
would be helpful to know that so we dont look in the wrong
place.

It looks like our pathc on the FTP and Web site may be out of
date.  I have contacted the persons responsible to get the
Mirror up and Running.  The patch IS on the IBBS. You can dial
it at 205-730-8786 (8,none,1,up to 14.4).  You need to navigate
to

I (Intergraph Product Centers)
B (Systems & Networking)
F (File Libs)
A (Drivers)
G (Windows 95)
G (reactor)
and download INDYCAR.ZIP (594K, 10/30/96)

There is also a VGAFIX.ZIP for systems that may hang when first
installing the card.

If you experience problems, Please call 1-800-226-4891 (7-7
Central)

Thanks
