I'm upgrading from a Radeon 64DDR to a Radeon 8500 on an Athlon 1ghz
system.  I'll be posting my N4 framerates either later this evening or
sometime tomorrow.

John,

Be sure and try OpenGL mode as well as D3D. I find OpenGL to provide
better color and frame rates. Also be sure and get the latest drivers from
www.ati.com.

Good Luck,
-Dave B

Frame rates idn't improve much (completely *** install), but they did
improve (3156 drivers off CD) to the point where at Watkins Glen, I'm
getting no less than 30 fps in traffic/turns, but as high as 80fps when
I'm by myself or with one or two cars.

I'm gonna install latest drivers tonight.

FWIW, 3DMark2001 ishowed an improvement from 3100 to 6300.

I'm running an AMD 1ghz with 768mb RAM.

BTW, GPL runs fine as well.

Do you have f1 2001? If so, let us know how it does as well...

My brothers GF2-GTS on an Anthalon 1600+ gets a score of 14.1 on the F1
setup, it gets around 70FPS using FRAPs.
My ATI 7500 on a P3-733 gets a score of 19 on the F1 setup, I get on average
70FPS using FRAPs.
Oh, both were set to 1024x768x32.

The ATI's are nice.
