N4 w/Radeon 8500 on W2K

Does anyone have any suggestions for using this card with  Windows 2000
outside of getting the latest drivers? I have
a friend with a new Gateway P4 with this card and the frame rates / graphics
in N4 are nowhere close to what they
should be with this rig.

One problem already:

* Card shows up in W2K as a Radeon 8500 VE
* Download the latest drivers from ATI's site
* Get an error message on the install -> "Not the correct driver for this
video card."

That last one is a little disappointing as that is the same driver which  is
supposed to work with most of the ATI
cards now out there....

Try using ATI's recommended driver instead of the latest
alternate. Under XP using OpenGL I found these drivers to
be much better. I'm getting about 80 to 85 fps with my system
1.4 Tbird 8500 WinXP.
