NASCAR: Drivers2.txt Question

by Robert Abernet » Tue, 30 May 1995 04:00:00

I have a some questions regarding the drivers2.txt file that goes
with the car sets.  First, what is the significance of the two sets of
numbers for each of the fields (power, traction, drag, and aggression)? Is
a number randomly selected between the high and low and used for each
individual race?  Secondly, setting several drivers numbers significantly
higher than others seems to have a greater effect during qualifing than
racing.  Over several races (championship season) the drivers with much
higher numbers qualified consistantly at the top of the field but at the
end of the race they were middle of the pack or near the back.  Do the
numbers in the drivers2.txt file only affect qualifing?  Finally, what is
the effect of the "drag" field?
                                 Any info would be appreciated!

I spoke to Papyrus about this, and the numbers do affect the drivers
,but there is a deeper file that the main characteristics come from.  You
can affect the quality of the drivers by changing the numbers.  The higher
the better, but the computer does pick the numbers randomly.  Only change
the drivers 2txt.  I made some changes and added drivers and they
work fairly well not exact.  Any other questions let me know
