IM looking for a good all around Joystick. I narrowed it down to the
Microsoft Presision Pro and the Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D.
What do you think?
Pros, Cons.
Were can i get more info on the Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D?
Have u ever seen the MS Sidewinder PP bundled w/MS flight sim 2000?
What is a HAT switch?

for the logitech, whats the rudder lock do?

A hat switch is like a tiny little 8 way joystick.  Typically you use it to
switch views in a flight sim, push it to the right to look over your right
shoulder etc.

I looks like the logitech has a similar rudder to the MS PPro, where you twist
the handle of the joystick to work the rudder.  Their rudder lock probably
prevents it from turning.  I've never had the need for a lock like this on my
MS PPro.

Go to a good computer store where they have all the joysticks out and you can
hold them and feel which one is best for you.

The MS stick has optical position readers = no stutters or calibration
headaches. Overall a great stick.  Not sure about the Logitech.

Hello Mike,
Can't comment on which of those two joysticks are better, but a HAT
switch allows you to look in different directions without changing
your direction of travel.

I saw the Logitech in a store recently,and was very positively impressed
with its feeling & robustness compared to earlier logitech models.
I have also seen one or two reviews that gave it a high rating.
However,this doesn't  say anything at all about its long-term endurance.
According to the  comp.sys.games.ibm.pc.flight-sim group,earlier Logitech
sticks
have a history of wearing down quickly,so I would probably wait until
after christmas or so  to get some comments from people  who had used it
for some time.
Then, if it held up,I would definitely go for it,as it has a very good
price.

I used to have a Logitech stick, but after having it exchanged twice for
problem with calibration, I exchanged it a third time and this time for a MS
FF Pro which I'm very happy with!

So...my advice would be - go for the MS stick without any doubt!
