RBR: Digital Gamepad settings (MS Sidewinder)

by Ross Hashan » Fri, 01 Oct 2004 16:24:17

I just got RBR but my wheel is broken so I'm resorting to my MS Sidewinder
gamepad, which is digital.
I've got no idea how to best fine-tune the controller config - especially as
my steering is X-Axis and my braking/accelerating is via button (unable to
map to Y-Axis for some reason?). Do I adjust the settings under 'Axis' or
under 'Digital' .. or both??

Should I be looking for a straight line or a curve? Rise/Fall/Saturation ..
what is best for a digital controller where it reads things as either 'on'
or 'off'??

Before I spend hours fiddling with these, does anyone out there have a
similar gamepad, and if so, if you have a usable & comfortable config
(responsive, but not too twitchy) - could you please be kind enough to share
you config settings (rise, fall, sat, etc) with us?

One other thing I haven't figured out -- (even using keyboard control) - how
do you reverse?
I'm driving on automatic-shift, but can move the gears back to 'R' -
whereupon it pops back into '1' immediately. Even when clutch is used.. Car
creeps back max 1 foot while 'R' is engaged. What am I missing? I haven't
completed Rally School yet - is reverse not available yet??

Thanks.
