N2 and Mystique..slow?

by Eri » Mon, 02 Jun 1997 04:00:00

Got myself a Mystique 4mb card a while back, and Im fairly satisfied with it,but one
thing irritates me,and thats the performance Im getting from Nascar2.It actually ran
faster and smoother on my S3 Trio card with a P133 than it does on my P200(48 mb) with the
Mystique.All my other games(GP2,MDK)"blaze"along smoothly,but Nascar kinda chops along.Its
playable, but its not at all impressive.I do play the game in DOS,and have the Matrox bios
version 1.4.Ive tried reinstalling the game, and Ive tried a bunch of different settings in
the bios, but it still seems choppy.I wonder if anyone else has had this problem, and what
was done about it.
    Thanks in advance

It all depends on your definition of choppy. I have a P-133 with that 4MB
Mystique and 32MB RAM and as long as I turn off grass/asphalt, I have no
problem at all with it (playing in DOS mode) except at Martinsville.

I have to turn off grass/asphalt,and skids/paint to make it run smoothly.I expect a
little more on a P200.Im actually considering getting a Rendition card:-).Ive read a few
posts here and a few reviews of the Mystique stating that it is a good card for N2,but as
far as I could tell,my old S3 Trio64 2mb card was actually a lot faster.Then again,I guess
it could be something in my system....who knows...
