Burnout PCE Modem Play ?

When my friend and I are playing Burnout using modem dial-up once the race
is complete the modem always hangs up.  If you would like to race again you
have to setup your modem to wait for connect again.  Is this normaI?  Is
there a way to stay connected and just start another race?
