Having just started to play EA's F12000 CS, I am still  not sure which
graphics settings are going to guarantee 'stutter free'. Could someone with
a similar spec computer to my own guide me as to what works for them

I have a 1.4 Athlon, 512mb ram, SB Live sound card and Hercules Gforce2
Ultra (64mb) graphics card.

Thanks

Tunr down the detail of "other" cars to medium, turn off enviromental
reflections (or whatever it's called). Just try various options until
you are happy with it. But setting the detail on other cars to medium
or low makes a big difference during a race.

Try turning off force feedback. Some controllers (especially
Microsoft) diminish performance considerably. Turning off pit lane
objects helps, as does turning off the skybox.

use R to turn the mirrors off at the start.  and also shut off Force
Feedback.  Also I have heard running the formation lap is a good idea since
it preloads the graphics and sounds....haven't tested that tho...so it may
be bogus.
good luck.

Force Feedback shouldn't be an issue if you've got a USB controller, like
the original LWFF Wheel.

It is...I have the LWFF/usb and F1cs just BOGS down when using it.  same
with the mirrors....on a 1.1ghz Athlon.  The FF from SCGT/F12k/F1cs2k has
always been mostly just rumble-strips and collisions.  You don't get any
driving feedback.  and it does kill the framerate.

Well I have a P3-750 with a Voodoo5 card and 128MB of ram with
a SB Live and a Logitech LWFF. It is stutter free at 800x600 (yes
even at the start with a full field). So perhaps your anthlon or Geforce
(or both) are the culprits?

Very true. I got MSFF USB and 1GHz Athlon and the FF is a fps hog. Though I
am still on DirectX8.0. Anybody seen an improvement on 8.0a ?
