Yes, GP 2 has been delayed until mid April to mid May. The European version
will be released first. I have heard about two reviews. One says that GP 2 is
great. No bugs, great AI, high framerate, VGA version looks great, in other
words perfect. The second review said the opposite of that.

Papyrus is working on two projects right now. The first one is a '60s open
wheel racing sim. Probably Formula 1 and should have Fangio and all the
others in it. I think it said that somewhere in the latest issue of
InterAction magazine. This project might change in the future to something
else. I don't know what the second project is.

Tim

For those of you that are wondering about where I got this info from, its
from a Papyrus beta tester and a great Formula 1 fan. Some of you from the
Papyrus BBS probably know who I am talking about.

Hmm - this is disapointing.  I'd have thought that with F1GP2 we'd have
a pretty darn good F1 simulator, and I can't see why Papyrus would want
to do another one - even if its is a '60s version.

What *I* really want (and alot of other people in this newsgroup too?) is
a good RALLY sim for the PC.  Wouldn't Papyrus's laudible efforts be much
better directed to producing one of these?  SEGA RALLY is a great game -
can't we have something similar on a PC?  Sure, the graphics might have to
be toned down, and it would be nice to have longer Stages, but SURELY it'd
be no great problem to reproduce the FEEL of sliding those cars around?

I have a game by Accolade called Rally.  It was released in 1993, and it
isn't bad, long off road courses, several cars to choose from.  I am
sure Papyrus could do a much better job now, but this game is not too
bad.

I don't get it  but 3D engine en feel of Screamer is the best there is !!
I mean for Action Racing, not for simulation.

Instead of nagging, Buy Screamer (It IS CHEAP !!!) so *** might make
Screamer 2 or Screamer Rally !!!!

Actually I thought Screamer was pretty lame. Slow graphics for an
arcade racer, and not a particularly realistic feel to the driving,
again compared to other arcade racers (like Need For Speed, for
example). I played it for about 1 day and have felt no urge to return
to it since.

Why doesn't someone make a NHRA sim? I figured someone would have made a good one by now, but
there has never been one. The best one I've ever seen was Shirley Muldowney's Drag Racing for the
Commodore 64 at least 10 years ago.

Now, I now that people are saying, "Drag racing sucks, there's no strategy and setup involved
with the cars, just line 'em up and go." This couldn't be further from the truth, there is a lot
of setup involved with drag racing, possibly more than NASCAR.

The sim could have the different pro classes, including Top Fuel Dragster, T/F Funny Car and Pro
Stock, along the with *** and motorcycle classes. You could even put in where muscle and
sports cars could be put in to race. The possibilities are almost endless.

I like NASCAR and ICR2 (as soon as I get the money to buy it), but I think that the PC has long
needed a good NHRA simulation, and I think that Papyrus is the only one around that can do it
justice.

I have Screamer, and I was really disappointed in what I got, even for the
$45 Can. I paid for it.  It's not a sim, it's a decent arcade game.  In
fact, INDY 500 by Sega for the arcade rocks Screamer bigtime.

it will apeal to some more than others of course, but i think it's an
excellent idea. fantabulous.

the problem would be the courses, which in real life are quite long(!),
and no one wants to stop and wait for the next section of a stage to load.
but how about a set of hill climbs and rally sprint courses, with those
snow racing tracks thrown in for extra mayhem!

I know there a lot of drag racing fans out there. I was one of over _110,000_
people that were at the Slick 50's this past weekend (and I have the sunburn to
prove it :) ) I think that NHRA is the second most popular racing association
in the country (NASCAR is first. NHRA is more popular than IndyCar/CART, except
for the Indy 500 (which will suck this year anyway)) but there never has been a
drag racing sim while there have been a ton of Indy-type racing simulations,
which up until ICR2 were not too good.

I know that if someone comes out with one, I will be the first one to buy it. I
was thinking of buying the Activision Atari Action Pack to get Dragster, which
was pretty good for what it was when I had it 15 years ago on the Atari 2600.
