I have had a look at how some of the high end carsets have been made,
and although they are fantastic ,my skill levels and requirement is
not that advanced.

I want to recreate the colors and sponshorship that I ran in the early
80,s on a formula vee.

Can the whole car skin be viewed as a Jpg or bmp and edirted with an
image editer, reconverted and run in the game. It would be great fun
for me to recreate my car (albiet a lot faster than the Vee)

Yes, you've pretty much got the right idea. Your best bet would be to have a
look in the GPL Addons section at RaceSimCentral. Creating a custom skin for
an existing carshape (3do) is fairly straightforward. Creating a custom
carshape is considerably harder though ;-)
