Hi guys

I bought a Momo today and I need a little help.

I've installed the 4.11 drivers but when i try and do the momo update it
says , "Update failed". Any ideas why that is happening?

I'm going to try and do it manually. I know where to put LHidLo.sys and
WmJoyFrc.dll but where does WmHidLo.sys go?

Does anyone know if MomoUpdate.exe changes the registry?

Not sure if it's the same error, but I had something similar happen. Found
it was caused by me not setting the "Use Folder Names" to on when I
extracted with Winzip.

Thanks Les, that was the problem.

FF is STILL bad in GPL though :(. Loads of oscillations around the
centre position, making driving straight very difficult. Any ideas?

Hi Gerry,

I think I can help with the oscillations.

I'd first try to decrease the latency setting in core. ini. If I remember
this correctly, the actual effect of this setting is that GPL tries to
'think ahead' in order to make up for higher latencies, i.e. it sends FF
commands before they're actually needed, and the higher the lat setting, the
more in advance the command is issued. Higher settings of this parameter can
cause oscillations.

You might also increase the damping value in core.ini or the dampening
slider in the wheel's controller setup window.

Good luck!

Achim

I'm getting pretty good results with the MOMO wheel so far, but I'm sure
I'll tweak it further before I am totally happy. I got the wheel only
yesterday and after getting the 4.11 software and the beta patch I'm using a
modified version of my old LWFF settings..

Game controllers..

Overall Effects Strength  100%
Spring Effect Strength     0%
Damper Effect Strength  0%

in core.ini

force_feedback_damping = 3.50000
force_feedback_latency = 0.010000
max_steering_torque = 210.000000

Hi Achim

I've had a good old fiddle with these setting, but no matter what, the
oscillations persist. I'm starting to wonder if the wheel has a hardware
fault.

Cheers

Hi Speed

I've given your setting a try but the oscillations are still there. It's
fine while turning, the FF is nice, smooth and believable. However, when
I try to drive in a straight line the *** oscillations makes it
undrivable.

Also, when I stop the car the Momo pulls to the left, even though the
cars road wheels aren't moving. DO you get that?

Cheers

Gerry, over at the Wingman forums (
http://www.wingmanteam.com/discus/messages/3/3.html?1004989259 )  folks have
reccomended that the deadzone be set off of "0", to say 1%, to avoid the
oscillations you're describing.

I was getting that (and still do) if the force strength is much above 100% -
however with 100% and very similar core.ini settings to Lol's it feels fine,
much like my old red wheel

That's it I think - either in the readme of the betadrivers or in a
forum on www.wingmanteam.com Tom says it's not a good idea to use a
higher force than 100% in GPL. (which is more than enough btw).
FYI I use the core.ini settings mentioned in the betadrivers readme
file, in windows force to 100, the second bar to 0% and the third bar,
damping, to 20%. No oscilliations or spikes in GPL.

Cheers Andre, I've just tried your settings :0). WHAT A GREAT WHEEL!
