Someone posted a question about car reflecting earlier so i snapped a
shot showing it...

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Reflections are very weird in the game.. The track surface isn't like
a mirror, and rendered onto the track, it's like the screen is just
flipped and rendered down into the track. *shrug*

(and dont mind the black triangles ;p)

That's a really strange technique to use.  I suppose it's done because a
true reflective surface would have been too slow, although maybe Sports Car
GT proves otherwise.  It looks pretty effective in the game though.

post a screenshot from your TNT, I really curious.

Yea Jan, please.  I have a TNT1 Viper V550 (Diamond) 16MB.
I'm interested on what to expect!

Well, I suppose it would be too much strain on the CPU to compute the real
reflection of  a curved and banked surface like the track (how'd you do
this - raytracing? <g>), but for me this pseudo-reflection looks real
enough.
BTW, what graphics card are you running? I have a V 3 3000 and also had this
black triangles on the track until I installed the latest drivers (1.05).
This cured it for me. Try the latest drivers or if you already have them,
try to reinstall them.

I think I read somewhere, ummm, maybe a guide about editing the graphics
files in SCGT, that the same technique was used in that game too.

Now that doesn't look anything like on my TNT1.
You better look for a new driver version for your card or try the
alternate reflections options that is described in the readme.

Yep I got a V3 2000 and I also had the triangles problem and the same as you
say with the latest drivers it is sweet as a nut.

Snake.

Really?  That surprises me a little.  Guess I just never noticed.  The wet
track in Sports Car GT seemed to have upside-down versions of the track-side
objects visible through it, but the track is very dark anyway, so it's hard
to see.  Either way, both games have a very good looking effect and run
pretty much full speed with it.

Yes please post a screenshot...

And there is no alternate reflection technique =(

for reflection it's either 1 for on or 0 for off =(

Now I'm going to go try running normal V3 drivers on my V3500 and see
if my computer explodes (and the triangles go away ;)

I've put up some random shots from Monaco and Hockenheim
in full rain (JPGs, so there is some quality loss).
http://1st-blaze.euhost.com/files/gp3/pics
.
Mind you, my comment was only aimed at the black triangles and
blocky rain textures on the street; of course I'm also getting the
physically "wrong" reflections.

Also visible on some of the pictures are the problems the game has
with Z-buffering. I.e. occasionally you see cars behind the armco,
houses or even below the track surface, most notably in Monaco with
its steep elevation changes and tight corners.

Let's hope this really is a beta and the final _has_ been improved
in the graphics department.

I'm using HyperSnap from www.hyperionics.com , don't think there's
an option in the game

By the way, how come there are no reflections of the cars
themselves in the wet track? Is this so hard to do?

Dennis.
