Logitech Formula Force (older one) on WinXP

Logitech Formula Force (older one) on WinXP

Recently upgraded my PC - having trouble getting
a driver for the LWFF using WIndows XP.

I'm running version 4.11.32 of the WIngman software,
whilst the wheel will work in a game, it only does
so if its the only controller connected. (If I use
the profiler to switch to the LWFF with a FF joystick
also connected, the game always seems to pick up the
Joystick - despite the wheel being selected in the
profiler)

At the Logitech site, I can only find a driver for
the "Formula Force GP" (the newer one).

Any ideas?

Cheers

Probably because the stick wants joystick ID #1 and pushes the wheel to #2.

Look if there's a "2nd page" in the calibration screen and calibrate as
normal in the 2nd page of axes.

I do believe there are new beta wingman drivers out as well - 4.20.

Willard.

im having the same hastle too  cause i want to use my  logitec ff wheel  as
joystick 1   and my usb game pad  as number 2   but  the game pad always
defaults to  joystick 1  in windows xp   in win 98 etc...  you could change
the  ids  to what you wanted but not in windows xp   so any help would be
much apreciated cause some of my racing games   only look for joystick one
so i have to delete my  game pad   from the control panel to run  my racing
games and then add it agian if i need to play game pad games    ...very
frustrating

Keith what do you put the ff on? I had mine set to 150% and it would not
work right. The guys at the wingman team at the time told me there was a bug
in the code that might be fixed later. Maybe it has been fixed now?

When you say "Old one" do you mean pre-USB?

I have a USB version of the formula force and I do not use the Wingman
software at all, XP does the job perfectly...

When I first pluged-it in it was immediatly recognised as such by XP (I
really thought it was cool since this was THE hardware I thought I might
have problem with in XP being old ( 4 Y) and all...)

There is a glitch in the Game Controller (what is it .pcl?) in the control
panel though, whenever I plug my four (4) old Sidewinder game pads (the ones
that could be plugged in each other) to play NHL 2002 with my friends I
first have to launch the control applet, there will be only one showing up,
after a while (10-15 sec.) all 4 will be listed, I can then launch the game.
If I do otherwise (Launch NHL first) there will be no controllers at all
(apart from the K-Board) showing-up in game.

Likewise, I cannot leave the Wingman plugged-in it will prevent me of using
my gamepads. I guess the contrary is also true.

*Note that we can launch an Internet *** session in NHL 2002 and be all 4
of us playing against any number of opponents that have joined through EA
hosted servers, as long as each and everyone has fast access and a good
ping, they're in for a beating!

I know that NHL has nothing to do with racing but since they're both from
the same editor, you would think that they would share knowledge between Dev
teams... Not so!...

In my Wish list :

1) Continued support for my "old" gamepads in NHL2003
2) Same kind of On-line *** functionnality in F1 2002 (In a patch) with
server and all...
3) Microsoft to fall back on their previous design Gamepadwise to ensure
that my #1 will happen.

*Not sure if 4 USB gamepads would work?

You could try the new beta 4.20 drivers they solved my XP problems, don't
know if they'll sort yours but worth a try!

The 4.20 drivers solved my problems with GPL and WinXP as well.  It turns
out that most of the screen jerks and wheel lag were caused by the 4.11c
drivers in XP.  I had previously thought it was all down to my sound card.
Now my only problem is a slight sound crackle with my SBLive.

Well- no luck for me. If the Loigtech Force 3D joystick and the LWFF
are connected the game always grbas the jotstick and ignores
the LWFF. Even with wingman 4.20 software.

Makes me wonder why they fitted 4 USB ports to the machine :-(

This is GP3, and Midtown madness - not tried other games yet but
I expect the same thing.

Thanks for your input anyhow..

Have you tried any other games/sims? I have no experience of Midtown
Madness, but I know the GP series has been a real pain controller wise for
me in the past (certainly for recognising axis and the like)

I also have a Logitech Force 3D joystick and yes, it is true, it does always
want to be in the ID1 position with the LWFF in ID2.  However, if I click
the gold arrow on the bottom right of the calibration window in GPL, I get
the second page of axes and I am able to calibrate my wheel there.  GPL
supports up to 16 axes I believe so I'm surprised you don't see your LWFF on
the second calibration page  like I do.
