Would anyone know which were the first F1 games to support 3D video cards?

Thanks,
Bob

I'd think F1RS by UbiSoft.  Guys?

need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry,
infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their

I think you are right, they had a requirement for a 3dfx card right from
the start.

And, looking at GP3, you would think it still didn't. =P

My guess would be 'Formula1' by Psygnosis; though it wasn't a simulation by
any stretch of the imagination. In fact, it was very unrealistic. I had a
3DFX version bundled with my Diamond Monster Voodoo1 card. The game also had
a Direct X mode.

Yup, I'm quite sure F1 Racing Simulation was the first... was my first F1
sim to take advantage of my nifty new "Voodoo Graphics" 3D only card at the
time.  I remember it was a pretty good sim at the time.

That is correct.  I was trying to think of the name while making my way
through this thread.  It was the first game i ever remember that _required_
a 3D card (i.e. no software mode).  I remember ABC's Road to Indy was that
way too :-D  (I've still got that one in my archive, lol)

From what I can find, F1 by Psygnosis was released on 06/30/1997 and F1RS
was released on 3/16/98  :-)

Actually, F1RS had both a Glide-only mode and a D3D rasteriser.  It asked
you the question during installation (in a very bad way).  You could install
either of them, they had different exe's.

It still sucked :)
