Hard drive access and sound problems in GPL

by Rbap » Wed, 24 Mar 1999 04:00:00

Hi all,

I've been enjoying GPL for quite some time now, but I have come across a game
glitch which is making the sim hard to play.

The basic problem is that whatever mode I'm in:  training, race, watching
in-car replay, etc...  the game begins to stutter as the hard drive is accessed
causing control problems.  Then, the sound shuts off and the keyboard becomes
unresponsive until I tap a mouse button.  Very strange.  I just upgraded to IE
5.0 and I'm wondering if some changes to Windows 98 are causing the hard drive
access and sound shut-off problems.  GPL has been on my hard drive since
October and had been running flawlessly.

I defragged my hardrive, did a thorough surface scan, reinstalled GPL and still
have the problem so I think it might be a Windows issue with something running
in the background.  I'm running on a Dell P2 300, 128ram, 200 MB swap file,
Voodoo 2, TSW steering wheel.

Any thoughts?

Regards,

Robert

Hi..

You might want to try this...

Try and find in the Control Panel..  somewhere that says what "sort" of computer it
is...   and select a "Server" type..  I think this keeps the hard disk spinning..
try this..
