ECCI - SBLive Problem

by SKnarr4 » Sat, 20 Oct 2001 23:41:36

I have a two year old ECCI wheel attached to a PDPIL4 gameport. I have no
problems with it at all. But, I recently upgraded to an all PCI motherboard,
which means I can't use my PDPIL4 gamecard. I have a slight stuttering -
jittering problem using an SBLive gameport. I have tried different joystick
drivers, different wheel configurations with no avail. I hooked up my TM
Super Sport wheel, using TM software and the wheel is fine. ?????

Any suggestions?

Is there a PCI gamecard solution?

Could there be a pot bad that the PDPIL4 gamecard somehow overcomes, but the
SBLive can't?

TIA,

I'm using a ECCI and SB card. I get lots of jitter/jumping in the Windows game
controller window but everything works perfectly smoothly when actually in
games. I've never found a way to smooth things out in Windows game controller
but there doesn't seem to be any need to.

Check to see that you have "Poll with Interrupts" turned off under Control
Panel/Game Controllers (I think its under the Id's tab - sry I run XP).

You want interrupts ON if yer gonna be racing online...I think.

Some (early) ECCIs had 50Kohm pots, which stutter more than the standard
100Kohm pots.  I'd replace the pots with decent mil-spec units anyway (I

the retail biz any longer).

Great wheel.  I still use mine daily (4 years now).

If you're on a carpeted floor, you might want to try hooking a ground wire
up to the base of the foot pedal and run it to the computer case or a***
on an outlet plate or something.  It worked for me!
