Way OT: Epox 8Kha+ RAM Question

by bhoeni » Mon, 19 Jul 2004 02:34:29

The Epox website seems to be down at the moment, so I hope that someone
here can answer a question or two.  You guys are always pretty
knowledgable and this mobo was pretty popular awhile back.......

What is the fastest PC RAM that the Epox 8Kha+ mobo takes?  I have 2
sticks of 256Meg PC2100 and want to add a stick of 512Meg RAM at the
fastest speed that the board takes.  I know that it will throttle down
to match the PC2100, but my intention is to eventually replace those 2
sticks with faster memory as well.

Is there another site besides www.epox.com (which seems to be down) to
get info on this motherboard?

Thanks!

The fastest PC RAM support 512MB X 1 on DDR DIMM 1 with up to PC2100
also can add another 512MB X 1 on DDR DIMM 2. The mainboard doesn't
support ECC memory module and do not mix the unbuffered and registered DDR
RAM on DIMM 1, DIMM 2 and DIMM 3 socket.

Thanks for the info, Tango.

One more question if you don't mind.  (I assume that you've had experience
with this mobo?)  Will the 8Kha+ support an AMD Mobile AthlonXP 2600+ CPU?  I
know that it's supposed to support the original AthlonXP2600 (FSB266) CPU, but
I'm not sure anout this newer _Mobile_ CPU  (It's also FSB266).  Newegg has
this CPU available for $95 at the moment.

I don't know about AMD Mobile 2600+ support the board, the only way is to
find out on Epox website to see the BIOS update that might say or not. Yes I
did own the board and sold it one year ago until I bought NF7-S ver.2 with
AMD Mobile 2600+, funny I bought the mobile two weeks ago from newegg.
