nascar pro digital 2 brake problem

nascar pro digital 2 brake problem

by Bill Jone » Sun, 17 Feb 2002 12:26:38

in short, the brake doesn't seem to come back to 0 when released.

in the *** Options of Windows Control Panel, I bring up the properties,
and it shows a picture of the wheel with the X and Y axis.  The Y axis is
the brake/pedal, X is the wheel.  The Y axis starts off being dead center.
I press the brake pedal and the bar graph in the Y axis goes to the bottom,
but when I release the brake pedal, it doesn't come back to the center.  The
graph is sort of jumping around just below the center.  If I press the
accelerator, the graph doesn't quite reach the top of the Y axis...

I can pull up gently on the brake pedal to make it come back to center.
Then when I press the accelerator, the graph does go to the top of the Y
axis.  As soon as I press the brake again though, it won't come back by
itself.

I unscrewed the pedal base to make sure the pedal wasn't rubbing on
something, or the whole for the pedal was too small, but couldn't see any
problems.  With the top of the pedal base off, the same behavior happened
with the brake pedal, so it wasn't rubbing on something or getting stuck.
The spring is not broken and feels strong.

Is there an adjustment that can be made?  I tried loosening the nut that
holds down the brake pot, to move the pot slightly in either direction, but
it didn't make a difference.

Has anyone seen this problem or know what to do?

Bill,

Sounds like the pots is going bad unfortunately the don't sell the
replacements for the pro digital 2. I had 3 pro 2 the first one the gas
pedal snapped . Still under warranty so I had to ship it back the sent
another one used about 3 months gas pedal pots went out had to send back
again they sent another refurbished one never even tried it sold it on ebay.
The wife had bought me a thomas-superwheel for christmas. If it less than a
year old contact them if not look for another  wheel. Hope it helps

thanks for the tip Ron.  I took the pedal base assembly apart again, and
sprayed some electronic cleaner inside both the gas and brake pots, and it
fixed the problem!  The pots must just have been dirty.

Now I can enjoy NR2002!
