TM NASCAR Pro Digital 2 Problem....

by Bob Nielse » Tue, 02 Jul 2002 07:09:40

O.K....I'm at my wits' end, and hoping someone can help me out....All I'm
trying to do is set up the wheel buttons so that one press activates (for
example, F1 to show race stats), and the 2nd press turns it off (i.e., to
hide race stats), but every time I try, one press of the button launches a
numerous repeating cycle....Any suggestions?

System Specification :

Processor : Duron 900
Physical Memory : 256MB
Motherboard : GVC ar862
Video Card : GeForce4 Ti4400 Drivers : 29.42 Det4
Sound Card : Hercules Game Theater XP
Operating System : Windows XP Home
DirectX : 9.0 Beta
Thrustmapper : 3.10

Any advice, suggestions, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated.

Bob,

I have the same wheel and do recall having the same problem.  Did you load
the TM software?

In the end I think I just gave up on trying to configure buttons using TM's
software.  They do have new drivers out (XP)-- well, not actually new-- so
you might want to check their site.

I don't run TM's software any longer.  I have to load it once, usually after
rebooting (rare occurrence with XP) so that I can configure for split axis.
Then I close the program down and everything is fine.

TM is pretty much a worthless company when it comes to support (I know,
someone bought them out.).  The least you can do is try loading the TM
drivers and messing with the button configuration or else post on the TM
board and someone might have an answer.

Alan,

Yeah, I'm running that POS TM software...the problem is...I'd like to set
one of my wheel buttons to cycle views (in-car, outside, etc), and I don't
think you can do that in the game.  Otherwise, the wheel runs great.

Just curious, why are you using DirectX 9.0 BETA?

Well, I have a bad habit of trying new DirectX betas...but, somehow, I don't
think DX9 is the problem (although I've been wrong many times before)...

I don't think it's the DX beta.  It's crappy TM software.  It would work,
obviously, if N2002 had a direct way to map these keys, like F1, the way it
does with, say, the shifter.  But that's not to be, and it's doubtful you'll
be able to do it using TM's software.  My next wheel will never be a
Thrustmaster-- bad support and buggy drivers.  I like the wheel, but I know
there's a better package out there.

Here's a tip: avoid DX betas like an anthrax latte.  (Altho in this case,
that's prolly not yer prob.)

Alan,

I'll have to agree w/you on TM's crappy software and support....I posted
this same message on their support forum on 6/28....and STILL haven't
received any replies.
