Pro Digital vs. Pro Digital 2?

I read on this newsgroup that if you use the default Microsoft USB drivers
instead of Thrustmasters that there is no dead zone with the older wheel,
therefore no real difference in the wheels performance.

Can anyone verify this or give comment to the difference in these wheels.
Obviously, they are now priced quite differently and I could use the extra
money if there is no reason to spend it.

Pro Digital vs. Pro Digital 2?

I purchased the Pro Digital back in 1999, use the windows drivers, have no
deadzone, smooth axis travel, and have full functional control and assignment
of all buttons, levers, and pedals in the following games: GPL,  N3, N4, F1
2000, F1 2000CS, Superbike 2001, SCGT, Viper Racing, Rally Championship,
Porsche Unleashed, & Nascar Heat. I've had trouble using it in GP500, and
Burnout (DOS). I've used this wheel daily for almost two years without any
problems. If I were to buy the Pro Digital 2, I'd still run the windows
drivers...why run another program in the background if you don't need it.

How did you do this without the TM software?

I'm not sure if you can have a 3 axis setup with using the TM software?

Pro Digital vs. Pro Digital 2?

Hi,  I have a TM Pro Digital USB also.  I love it - the pedals, the wheel,
everything about it except this:  On reboot my computer doesn't recognize
the wheel, I have to unplug and replug it in, sometimes like 20 times before
I get my computer to recognize it.  If you don't mind, how can I use the
Windows driver instead of the TM one?  I have reloaded the software several
time with the same result.  Would very much appreciate any ideas you may
have!
Running:
Win98SE, Radeon 64DDR, 512 ram, SBLive 5.1

Just off the top of my head, perhaps trying to re-install the usb
drivers....since it works intermitently it sounds like a problem not with
the wheel, but how the drivers are interacting with windows...

Pro Digital vs. Pro Digital 2?

Strangely enough, I was able to configure for three axes, finally, using
only Windows' Control Panel.  Don't know how I did it, but after using the
TM software and configuring it for three axes, I unloaded the TM software.
Then, almost miraculously, after starting Windows' CP again, I found that it
worked, the third axes showing up on the vertical bar as the accelerator.
This is using Windows ME, BTW.

I had recognition problems as well, downloading latest version of software
from ThrustMaster (Guillermot?) solved all problems.
