NASCAR - Crashes

I have recently got a copy of Nascar

I have got it to work OK on my fathers 486DX-33 with 8MB of RAM in VGA mode.

I now cant get it to work on my 486DX2-66 with 8MB of RAM and and S3 local
bus accelerator with 1MB, and it doesn't make sense to me.

When I load Nascar on my PC it gets as far as the menu, but just sits there
when I try to select any of the options. I can't even exit - I have to re-
boot. When I select an option the colour of the option changes, but the
program just seems to stay there. I can then use the arrows to move to
another selection, as I've already said I cant exit without re-booting.

I have tried everything, and I don't know whats wrong - the manual doesn't
help either.

Please can someone help me?

Have you tried booting your system from a floppy disk containing just
the very minimum of drivers (i.e. your sound card drivers and your CD
ROM drivers if you are running the game from CD and your HIMEM device
driver).  Make sure that you DON'T have any memory management software
running (i.e. QEMM or EMM386).  NASCAR has it's own memory management
package, and it doesn't like to see other ones, and conflicts can
result.  If you aren't sure about creating a boot disk, there is (I
believe) an option in the setup menu to create one.  Follow the
instructions and see if that helps.  Good Luck and Happy Racing!

Judgeing by the posts we get here on occasions, it would seem that the S3 video
card causes a lot of problems with nascar.
As of yet I've never seen anyone post a solution, however a friend of mine
said he managed to solve it by running a utility that came on the DOS drivers disk.
I can't remember whether he said it was a bios utils or the VESA driver but he
said it worked for him (I can't comment, I own a VL BUS Paradise).
