Just a couple of things that will hopefully prompt a patch -

1/ It has been my experience that apart from the random disconnects that occur in GPL
online, that there is an increased chance that people will disco at the end of practice,
often not being able to rejoin b4 race start :((((( A patch that allows the host to save
the qual results like you can when racing the AI would be much appreciated and easy to do
I guess. This would also allow restarts in the event that we lose over half the field on
lap 1 :)) At a race in the GPLWS at Monaco on Saturday morning we lost the pole sitter and
2 other very good drivers due to the end of practice disconnect thing. One of them was
George Sandman who is running a PII at 504mhz and pings extremely well to the host, Randy
Magruder, so no connection or low fps issue here. It appears that there is a chance that
some drivers cause others to disconnect - true? There were less than 10 participants in
this race also.

2/ Something to deal with the crazy lap times we end up with when a clock smash occurs
online. I just attempted to begin a season at Kyalami where the track record was 5
seconds. This meant the AI was doing laps of 1:11. I edited the track record and my
personal records but the mega fast AI remains. What do I need to do?

3/ Is there a way to make the online play in GPL so that a player never drops unless their
actual connection drops. I'd rather be invisible and have all other cars invisible for a
few seconds or so instead of being completely disconnected. Possible?

If you read this Eric, do you have any news of a potential patch for GPL? TIA. Cheers

Has anyone noticed the lack of posts demanding patches for GPL. Is this a
first around here or what? The reason for this as far as I can see Is that
in a stand alone single player game GPL is almost perfect and I myself
cannot find anything that I think needs to be changed.
Multiplayer however is a different story. This game is becoming too
important as an online racing medium to be let down by a few little
disconnection problems the main ones Byron has already been through.
I realise that GPL was not optimised for internet play but it is so good at
it that with a little tweaking to make it a little more robust as far as the
connections go so that it will hang onto the player as long as possible
before they are dropped, especially at the changeover from practice to race.

Have you tried deleting the "player.sts" file in your player directory?
Any time I want to reset the AI to factory-fresh condition, that does
the trick.

Byron

What are you talking about? When I posted about the online problems a few
weeks ago, I was told I was the only one who was having these problems.
