I have a few questions about the Papyrus Nascar game that I haven't seen
referred to here...although they may have been covered before.

Concerning set-ups for each race, are the default set-ups that are given in
the game the best possible set-up for that car for that track? Or is it a
good set-up that stays pretty much the same for all the tracks?

If so, is there a web site that lists the best possible set-ups for
each track? Or could some one mail me telling me their preferences for
each track?

My second question is about the handicapping of the AI cars. If I set the
AI cars at 85%, I can compete with them pretty well in the race. But can
never come close to them in qualifying. Not once have I ever qualified
better than last place for a race (Mind you, I'm running it on a 386DX,
33 Mhz so I can race with no more than 10 cars before things get jerky, so
I may be racing against the 10 best cars.)

Anyway, I would think that if I set the AI cars at 85% race speed, they
should qualify at 85% speed. Is there a .txt file I can fiddle with
to change qualifying speeds?

Thanks in advance.....

The setups are all different, but, they're supposedly decent setups.  Not
great, but playable.  Of course that's dependant on how you drive the track.

I suggest you might want to try /www.peganet.com/ and look for the IVGA
home page.

One thing you may need to do is try to get the 1.21 patch.  That makes
the qual session dependant on the opponent percentage.  That's at
Papyrus's ftp site /ftp.std.com/vendors/papyrus.

You asked:

YES, each track has a .txt file, same name as the track.
There is a line BLAP  XXXXX,  that sets the qual. speed for the track.
The numbers are seconds per lap to three decimals,

i.e.  BLAP  21456 would be 21.456 sec. per lap.

Fiddle with this number to get you closer to the front, if you want.
Also, line QUAL 2 1 setting gives you 2 attempts of one lap each.
I changed this to QUAL  2 5 to give me 5 laps of qual.

Again , fiddle as much as you want to make your game more enjoyable

I think you'll find the 1.21 patch will fix this problem without fiddling with
text files.
