GP2 This sim sucks
I love nearly everything about it the brake lockups the traction slip
the bumping over the curbs ect, ect, ect, but it has big problems as far
as the simulation side goes. The number 1 being real time compared to
simulated time. It is almost imposible to do a 1.20 lap that takes
1.20 in real time due to the slowing of the image to keep a constant
frame rate. Even keeping processor occupancy well under 100% , as
soon as a car is close in front or a few on the screan, the occupancy
skyrockets slowing everything down. This inturn causes another problem
that I read about on the news group in that the sim time speeds up if
occupancy drops below 100%.
Having the vidio changing speed like this causes more problems as far
as a driver is concerned in that it is much easier to drive if the
occupancy is high. The best way to radically improve lap times is to
bump up the graphics, keep occupancy between 150-200% and you will do
perfect laps you will hit braking marks perfectly, maintain perfect
speed through corners simply because you have more time. Drop below
100 however and things become alot harder. This method of frame
adjustment was used in gp1 however gp1 did not need to accomidate
network racing gp2 will eventually have to. Papyrus got around this
easily simply by dropping frames to make up for high occupancy in
nascar a 1.20 lap always takes 1.20
I like most of us here am eagerly awaiting serious network racing of
any kind but for now my hopes ly with Papyrus and Nascar 2, since
Hawaii is out of the question (outside U.S). However Nascar is a form
of racing that does require lots of cars and although 8 is better than
none you really do need a full field. GP is a different form of racing
, more one on one than one on 30 .8 player networking would be fine as
the race is more with the car in front of you and the car behind you,
not with the entire field as with Nascar .
I have heard rumour of 16 player networking with GP2 why stop there
why not make it 26 and make everyone happy, all I can say is dont hold
your breath. It took more than 3 years to make GP2 and then it was 1
year late as we all know. As well as that when they started making it
networking was not a priority, I think they have a lot of work ahead
of them and we have alot of waiting to do before we get to race a
field of Human opponents ( even so I cant wait)
Untill then Nascar2 8 player will suit me fine all I have to do is
find 8 dedicated Nascar drivers on my i.s.p and kali here we come
Best regards to all sim racers and sorry if what I have to say is not
what you want to hear

By the way give Monster Truck Madness a go. It is not a true sim but
has some good points and a nice feal about the slides ,and suspention
bounce. Also it has 8 player networking and with little crash damage
lag over the internet does not cause to much racing problems. Its good
fun but thats it
Any comments you know where
