At the rate they're going, the Pace Car Team will have a larger field for
Long Beach. :-(

Run the series into the ground then pull your team out!
*thumbs up*
I always assumed I hated Rahal because I was a fan of Andretti and
Mears, but maybe there was more to it.
Jason
:) go back and find my Lord of the Rings post. :)
It's not the drivers so much as the Sponsors and Owners. Indy makes
up for all the other IRL races budget-wise. Rahal's reason on Wind
Tunnel was the split effort between CART and irl robbed his team of
sucess at Indy.
We cannot begin to comprehend what a huge huge club that name is.
And back to the drivers....Rahal left his driver behind WITH sponsorship
money rather than race in both.
Michel Jourdain will be attempting to STAY in OWRS(cart) with his
Gigante Mexican sponsorship. But if t.g. gets any of the Mexican events,
then you can bet the Gigante tail will wag the dog of whatever team
Jourdain lands with. How many teams can Rocketsports field and still be
a single team?
Those aren't mutually exclusive. I was a fan of all three drivers.

I saw Rahal on Wind Tunnel and a lot of what he said made perfect sense....
if he said it in December.
I knew it was all over when Fernandez left. Ya Indy is huge but bigger than
Monterrey and Mexico City in Mexico. I thought the Tecate money would keep
him in the Mexican races. Again the timing seems all weird. There is
something else going on.

Some of those announcements were already made.
It's awesome that everyone has spent a week talking about the end of
CART because of 2 mediocre drivers leaving, but not about the ones who
have gotten rides since then.
Jason
Last thing I want to see is CART's end. I've been an avid fan since my
family first took me to Indy for pole day back in the 60's. But you
must admit.....it doesn't look good.
I dunno, I don't see any reason to think that CART is dead anymore
than I did 6 months ago.
Rahal left, but Jourdain is staying in the series. Fernandez left,
but Gigante is staying and sponsoring a new team. Newman/Haas is
expanding to 3 cars and Rusport to 2. Dale Coyne is going to field a
2nd car for Ralph Firman. Paul Newman has reaffirmed that there is 0
chance of N/H running in the IRL, and I imagine he'd be willing to
field 20 cars if he had to to keep the series going.
I just don't see what all the fuss is about 2 teams leaving the series
who weren't really having much of an impact on it anyway.
Jason
I do take a certain amount of pleasure in seeing that a certain Mr
Fernandez was first out at Phoenix. ;> Been gone the rest of the
Afternoon, don't know how the rest of it went.
