Nascar Sound

I tried installing Nascar on my new PC, and everything works good...but
NO sound.  I'm running in MS-DOS mode and have everything set up properly
in Nascar.  I have a Blaster card Port=220, Interrupt=5, DMA=1.  This is
how it's set up on my system.  I have set the Nascar Setup to match this,
along with trying every sound card option available within Nascar.  I
have Indycar I and after loading it, I do get the announcer at the
beginning of the game, however, the engine sound of the cars sounds like
a jet.....the engine sounds are not right.....help.

says...

Make sure you have the card SB 8 Stereo selected.  If that still
sounds wierd, load the game with NASCAR -f, the f is FM SB sound.

Get from papyrus ( found at ftp.std.com/vendors/papyrus ) the nascar-update nas121.exe. With
the update comes an auto soundcardsetup. Hope for you that that does the job.

I have a kind of but not really the same problem.  My sound cuts out
about half way thru a race.  But I do hear the sound when I begin a
new race or end the game.
