If anybody reading this newsgroup is part of the MS CART or MS CART
support team, I'd appreciate a response to my problem in getting the
proper graphics support.
Here's the basic info (by the way, Diamond support responded saying that
it must be something in MS CPR).
Subject: Help with MS CART PR/Direct 3D and the Diamond Fire GL 1000
Pro 8MB AGP video card
I am having a problem with MS CART PR and the Diamond Fire GL
1000 Pro AGP 8MB video card
The problem is that running MS CART Precision Racing (normal and
patched version), if I select
to use Direct 3D hardware acceleration, the graphics menu accepts
the choice but when I go to load a track
to go driving the screen goes blank and I have to do a hard
reboot of the computer.
NOTE 1: If I don't chose Direct 3D hardware acceleration, the
game works fine but runs somewhat slowly. If I choose
to use the Righteous 3Dfx card for Direct 3D acceleration, the
game work fine - however I find that the image
and color qualitys are much better with the Fire GL 1000 Pro and
so would preffer to ONLY use it.
NOTE 2: I ahve installed the latest Diamond drivers and bios
updates from the Diamond Web Site (see details below),
I noticed a nice speed up in many of the OpenGL progams I run but
seemed to have picked up this CPR problem.
Here's my system setup:
- ASUS P2L97 400LX motherboard (with latest patches from ASUS)
with 512KB cache
- 64 MB SDRAM
- Intel Pentium II 300MHz CPU
- Windows 95 OSR2.1
- Creative AWE 64 soundcard
- Diamond Fire GL 1000 Pro 8MB AGP, Bios 1.41, Display Driver
version 4.10.01.2248
- Orchid Righteous 3D 3Dfx card with 4MB, Driver release:
3.01.00
- Sony 200SX 17" monitor
By the way, I use the utility 3D Control Center v.1 to enable
switching back and forth between the Fire GL 1000 Pro and
the Righteous 3D card.
I would very much appreciate your help on this.
Thanks for any and all help,
