I, like some others on this newsgroup, am a bit dissappointed at how CPR turned
out (at least on the trial version). I don't want to get into a lengthy
discussion about the AI controlled car (they're awful), or D3D vs GL. I just
want to know what's the minumum system requirement that would enable all
graphic options on? IMHO, graphics enhances the gameplay significantly and
allow for far better control since that's all we have to judge how far the
next corner is. In my current system, Dell PII 266mh 32 MB EDO FX Millenium 4
MB, and all graphic options on with clipping distance maxed out, the game
drops down to 10-20 fps and most of the time hovering between 13-15 fps. It
gets a lot worse ( 10-12 fps) during pace lap when other cars are nearby and
around start/finish line when more buildings are visible. Now I know mine
system is not the current state of the art, but I thought I would get a little
better performance out of this game since the system is only out 5 months ago.
Enough of my rambling, what should I buy that would allow more fps at a
reasonable budget? (I need to save up for a TSW. BTW, what's the wait time on
this unit?) More RAM? 3DFX? New motherboard with LX chipset and AGP? <Gasp!>
Anyone from TR can answer this question? Now when I say all option on, I mean
25 fps or more with all options on and max clipping with 26 other cars on the
grid. The clipping distance is important to me because ICR2 clips rather
prematurely on some of the ovals I've tried. Any inputs or comments would be appreciated

How do I check the frame rate? I have a PII300, 64Mb SDRAM with an old ATI
Graphics Pro Turbo card (I'm waiting for a mature AGP card.) and CPR runs
perfectly with everything on. I would estimate a framerate between 23 and 27. It
shouldn't be any particular difference to the PII266 system as it has a better
graphics card.

Will you be buying Ubisoft F1?

"Oh...you only have a P2 266 with a Millenium II video card--that makes your
system superior to about 99% of what's out there."

That's what I thought before I tried the demo of this game but apparently
I was wrong. Could someone with a LX motherboard with AGP or Voodoo confirm
this for us? FPS numbers? Is the retail version any different than the demo
when it comes to the graphics?

"Someone help us, please."

Could someone from Microsoft/TR tell us what their test/reference system is?
