how to improve GPL further

The following features added to GPL could improve this excellent sim for LAN
or Internet multiplayer racing leagues. Maybe someone knowledgeable could
look into this. No need for fancy new interface options or extensive
documentation. It would be enough to control these features via manual file
copying or ini-file entries.

(1) basic load functionality for multiplayer starting grids in case a race
has to be restarted because of a server crash.

(2) host and players should be able to choose their starting number.

(3) the host should be able to force the start of the race while the
qualifying order remains intact

And he turned his head to the sky and spoke: "randy cassidy, if there will
ever be another gpl patch, please consider adding these features".. and he
prayed that they would be included in NASCAR 4  ;-)

cheers,

I think the force start item is in the server commands of the patched
version of N3.  Which we all should know is the beta for N4's
multiplayer.  Here is another item...that is aimed mainly at endurance
racing.  The ability to rejoin the same race after being disconnected.

And a BIG SIREN wav when the green button appears at race time.
