N2 Problem! Please Help!

by Evan Vic » Sun, 07 Dec 1997 04:00:00

Ok, I just upgraded my motherboard and processor from a Pentium-60 to an
Intel Pentium 166 with MMX.  Before, N2 ran fine except I had to run in
low-res.  Now the game will run fine for a while, but then something
weird happens.  The video locks up and begins flickering, but the came
continues on because I hear myself crash and hit the wall.  The only
thing you can do then is to close your DOS box.  This also happens on my
friend's Cyrix 200.  If anyone knows what is wrong and what I need to do
to fix it, please let me know.  Thanks!

Well, I had the same prob on a 200MMX, It crashes if I run under
windows. Try running it in "Dos Only", hit the F8 key when the screen
prompts "Starting Windows 95", and choose "normal from the menu.
Load a mouse driver, and load N2...

Hope this helps...

Sounds to me like one of two things:

1. Do you have a screen saver going in the background?

2. Turn off the Power Management features in your M/B
     BIOS.

Hope this helps!!!

N2 Problem! Please Help!

I have upgraded from a p120 to a 166mmx (Both 32meg EDO)
without any side effects at all. I run Nascar2 in Full DOS
most of the time except if I am racing on the internet via
Kali95 which forces me to run Nascar2 from Win 95.

BUT. I did have the same video freeze up (but car still
running) problem when I first got Nascar2 Dec 96. I turned out
to be miss match memory boards (Two were 60ns speed while the
other two were 70ns) Replaced the lot with a matched set EDO
Ram and have never had a problem since.

Hope this helps
