I understand the Soundblaster Live has minimal frame hit.  Is
the MX300 as good in this regard?

I've recently replaced my SBLive with an MX300 and I have not noticed
any frame rate degradation in GPL. I have noticed that the MX300 has a
MUCH more stable gameport.

Yes.. the MX300 has the best gameport of ALL cards..  including dedicated
cards..

It ROCKS!!..  never have to recalibrate and the accuracy is sensational..
took .50 off my times at Monza!!!

And the sounds is pretty good too  :-)

Does the MX300 do DOS based games too??? Like GP2 ???

And... does it do A3D 2.0 ??? So N3 will be supported ?

I'm also in the market to upgrade my old ISA based Soundblaster AWE32 (got
this baby back in late 1995!)

I've got a LWFF, so a fast gameport isn't as important as the ability to
support both my older games and the new games that have it the market, and
that will be coming in the future!

Thanks

Do not think it supports DOS, but not sure on that one. It does indeed support
A3D 2.0 which allows reflection support in N3. Very nice.

IT does Soundblaster Pro emulation in DOS mode if you choose to
install the driver for it.

Yes, it's based on the Aureal Vortex2 chipset.

I don't think you'd be disappointed with either card. I chose the
MX300 for the better gameport, but I do thinkthe SBLive had a little
better overall sound quality.

Does the SB Live do A3D 2.0 ?

It seems this is the direction many game makers are going in the future!?
