Anybody got any idea where I could get hold of this old, old (but good)
game, preferably the EGA version? I'd be eternally grateful (and it gives me
an excuse to dig out the old 386...)

Search for the term "Abandonware".

I still have it complete with BOTH 3.5" and 5.25" disks and the book.
I'd take $8 shipped for it.

I still have it the version for MACINTOSH.  With the book.  The Sledgehammer
kicked arse even in Black/white.  The title was ahead of it's time.

It was a blast for a while, but you couldn't get airborne over the
hills.  Seemed strange to be going 90mph at the top of a hill and just crest
it and keep going.

I still have Stunt Track Racer and Stunt Driver with the books, too.

You sure about that?

On the Apple version you could change settings for gravity and many other
factors such as power, brakes, etc...  Talk about too advanced for it's
time.  Heck I remember having a blast taking my car at full speed and
jumping from the Lombard street (you know, where the street has to go in "S"
since it's too steep) over the telegraph hill all the way into the SF bay!!!
;)

I also had a framerate of around 2-3fps, and didn't minded (just by
remembering myself the staccato engine sound in my memory).

Yup.  Don't recall that there was an option about "gravity."  There
might've been, but if there was, _I_ never saw it.  If I could've gotten
airborne I'd probably know every street in Frisco by now! lol

Duuude!  I had the B&W version first, when I had a Mac Classic...great game
on that 9" screen =)

Then I got a Mac LC....wow, COLOR!!!  Got a new version of Vette with it
too...

One of my friends still has it on his PC...quite honestly it doesn't look
near as good as I remember it looking on that old LC.

Anyone got a copy of it for either PC or Mac (I have an emulator) that they
wouldn't mind posting somewhere?  I long to roam Frisco again in the
Sledgehammer... *sniff*
