Thinking about buying an old Rendition card

I've been thinking about buying a rendition card for icr2 and n99 (cuz 3dfx
runs slow for me... only damn game that does this). Can you disable the 2d
on a rendition? Where can I find a good old one? And what were the names of
the rendition cards released? I think i should be able to find one somewhere
for under $30(?).

The Rendition V1000 is a 2D/3D card. If you want it's 3D, you're stuck
with it's 2D.

I don't remember all the cards that used the V1000.
I have a Sierra Screamin' 3D, which is one of them. I use this in a
second computer (P166 now, will be K6/2 300 soon. That'll make a great
box for older Rendition sims like ICR2, N2 and SODA).

I think Creative had one called the Graphics Blaster. Someone else can
set you straight on this better than I.
The second generation Rendition cards are faster than the 1000's, but
I think there are issues with ICR2.

Good luck.

Hmmm, let's see if I can remember all the flavors of Rendition V1000's.

Sierra Screamin' 3D

Creative Labs 3D Blaster (I had that one) - if one were trying to find one
of these now (I wouldn't recommend it) beware - they had a *Graphics Blaster
3D* out at the same time, which had an entirely different chipset.

Canopus Total 3D

Intergraph Reactor

All were pretty much the same, I think the Canopus was a bit faster and may
have had TV out.  All are, as Tim said, 2D/3D.  I have seen folks who have
run a TNT2 and a Voodoo3 at the same time, switching the hardware profiles
in Win 98 and swapping the monitor cable - so I guess you *could* run one
just when you do ICR2 or N99 and switch to whatever you're currently running
now the rest of the time - but that'd be a lotta hassle I'd think.

Shouldn't you be looking at why your Voodoo card runs slow.
Slow PC?
Old Voodoo card?

There are plenty of people here that run fine with a Voodoo2 or 3.

How well will it perform with Colin McRae Rally?
