any clues?
Even in the game menu's many words just have disappeared and the in game
screen is flickering badly.

Should I change any of tyhe Direct3D setting on my TNT card properties?

Or should I use the ASUS drivers instead of the NVIDEA?

I had the same prob with my TNT 1 (it occasionally surfaced with some of the
newer game demos).  I followed Papy's recommendation to update the Nvidia
drivers (I had 3.68) to 5.22 and the problem went away.  -Keith

have you got the 5.22 drivers?
and have you removed the 3.68 nvOpenGL.dll?

I have exactly the same problem (words missing in menus and then tearing of
the screen in play) that is fixed by enabling V-sync in D3D.

I have spectra 2500 (TNT), and now get fantastic frame rates, with mirrors
(>30)  - lap times are dropping in big chunks

V-sync option is in the general Display Properties accessed from your
desktop - dig through : settings-advanced-riva TNT -additional
properties-Direct 3D Settings-More D3D- then ensure that the disable
vertical sync box is UNchecked.

This is distinct from opengl Vsync setting, which works well disabled.

I would be interested to hear  from anyone who has for certain got Vsync
disabled in D3D and TNT with no visible tearing.
