> Ah! Another former Opel Manta owner! GREAT fun!
of the imagination, I bought the car in late 95 and it has seen a lot of
abuse since then and the body has all but returned to mother nature....I
guess stiff springs and shocks and frequent abuse on forest stages" as
well as the local track did it's part, but then again, Opel has never
been known to be rust proof...:-), your old 72 probably has less rust
than my 86 :-)
Well, FWIW, my Manta isn't much down on HP to Escort included here and
is probably well up on torque from it's 2.7 engine (courtesy of Mantzel
Opel Tuning :-), and it has also seen a lot of "development" work going
into it's suspension, with progressive raising rate springs, adjustable
Koni's, LSD, harder suspension bushings...etc, and there's just no way
that *I* could have driven it like I can the Escort in RT
This doesn't mean that I think they've gotten it "wrong", or that it's
"arcade", just that it's parameters, or whatever they use to tune the
physics, flatters the driver, I'm very much reminded of NFS:PU when I
drive these cars and find myself being able to take corners in a way I
just can't see myself doing in real life, at least not with as little
seat time as I've had with this one yet, which will increase a lot when
it's released as this is something I'm looking forward to, and I did
what I said in the review, went back to more driving as soon as the
article was done :-), now if I could just get my hands on a version with
the Lancia Fulvia HF in it I'd be a happy man :-)
Beat you this time didn't we :-)
Beers and cheers
