system I'm looking into comes with the STB version. Should I get that
version or look for another? I plan on purchasing GPL and would like to
have the best video possible!

IF you're worried about 2D image quality, then Voodoo2's have to deal with the
external pass through cable, which cause some diminishing of image quality.
The STB Blackmagic Voodoo2 can be linked via an internal pass through cable to
the STB Witchdoctor, a RIVA128ZX based AGP/PCI card.
If however, 3D is your only worry, and you are not concerned about a tv out,
then just buy the cheapest 12MB card you can get your hands on.
STB, Canopus & Obsidianand wicked 3De are the only people to ahve done
anythign different to the reference design.
So it comes down to price, and bundle(if you like a few oem demos/maybe full
price titles thrown in.)

That's the Black Magic.
As far as I know, they're all still 3Dfx reference design except for
the one with TV out. Can't remember which one that is, but it isn't
the STB.
The Black Magic a good card. I just responded to a guy in another V2
thread. There is one thing to look for on it.
Make sure it has the 100mhz RAM. Early ones were reportedly shipping
with slower RAM due to a shortage.
Cards on the shelf should be way beyond that age unless they've been
sitting. I got my STB Black Magic months ago, and it has the 100mhz
RAM. $150 is a screaming deal.

You're right, $150 is a good deal...I bought mine three days
ago, and with the same graphics settings/resolution in GPL, I
picked up 5~7 fps over my Voodoo I card. (P-II 233, 64mb.)
Walden Software (managed by EB) has them at $149, and the
Creative 12 meg. V II at $199 before a $50 mail in rebate.
