Wheel Calibration

I've just taken the plunge and got a BRD ProV2 wheel and Pro pedals.  I've
noticed there seems to be a bit of a "dead spot" when the wheel is centred
(i.e. the wheel can be moved slightly in either direction before the car
reacts).  This is most noticeable in F12002 but I can't notice it at all in
GPL so I'm wondering if it's calibration in the game rather than something
wrong with the wheel.  Anyone got any tips for calibration and what all the
sensitivity settings mean in F12002 (I HAVE looked in the manual and I HAVE
experimented with them but they don't seem to effect anything).

Thanks,
Dave.

Try and get hold of a program called DXTweak.  This hopefully will show
you the dead spot on your wheel and allow you to set it to 0.  My own
wheel, a TM Ferrari wheel, had the top 2 settings that relate to the
steering dead spot zone at 5 and so I was able to change those to 0
using this software.

And F12002 is as annoying as hell to set-up for any controller.  Look for
detailed guides/help here or on fan sites to assist yourself.

   Marc  welcome back.

There are a whole bunch of threads in ras about setting up
controllers for F1 2001 and 2002 and Nascar Thunder.  All of them are
pretty much the same.  Use Google groups to search ras for those titles and
controllers and you'll probably find more help than you have time to read.

Remember that Windows has a built in deadzone...it doesn't affect(or is
it effect?  I can never remember which to use...) sims like GPL because I
don't think the Papyrus titles use DirectX.  Or if they do, they access it
differently...Maybe Eric could explain it?
anyhow you probably have a windows deadzone and your range might be too
big or small to be accurately reported in directx.  If you find the info
about dxtweek2 pay attention to the response numbers.  The magic number to
achieve in the value box of dxtweek2 for each axis is 32769.  That will
give you a fully linear wheel in the EA titles.

Thanks all; now sorted after adjusting deadspot figure from 5 to 0.

Cheers,
Dave.
