Wheel calibration won't 'stick' in Nascar2 rendition/Canopus

by R. Dewey Thoma » Fri, 19 Sep 1997 04:00:00

I recently purchased a Canopus Total 3D card and I would like to play
Nascar2 in rendition mode.  However, the wheel calibration won't 'stick'
when I run nasrend or renddma.  I have little control of the car as a
result.

I have a Cyrx686 200
windows 95
Canopus Total 3D video card
Thrustmaster T2 wheel and pedals

everything works fine in the non rendition Nascar2.

I have tried to calibrate the wheel in Win95 Control Panel.
I have tried to calibrate in non rendition Nascar2 then running
rendition.
I Have tried to calibrate multiple times to try to get a calibration to
'stick'

Any help or suggestions would be greatly apprecitated since I would much
rather run Nascar2 in rendition mode now that I have had a taste of what
the difference is!

Have you installed all the patches? The patches should address the
problem of joystick calibration with non-Intel processors.

Try running the game from DOS.
Win95 truly sucks at running Dos4gw games.
I have also heard of motherboard compatability problems with the DMA
busmastering. But I am no techie so can't tell you any more.
I have also heard of Cyrix compatability problems.
As far as video cards go, ignore the last reply, your Conopus T3D is a
 Verite' chip.

Make sure you have the Nascar2 patches installed. Don't get the Cyrix
patch from The Pits 'cause it won't help you. It 'fools' your computer
into thinking your cpu is an intel...and then when N2 tries to do a
Pentium specific routine -CRASH! Your vid card is Rendition based. I
have a Cyrix with an Intense 3d and the patches 'fixed' N2 so that I can
now run Renddma. I always was able to run Nasrend.exe. Can you run
Nasrend without any probs? I have DL links for the patches at:

Good Luck,
Alan
