Run it from DOS as it should, and not WINDOWS. This should fix your
problem if you wish to continue with Hawaii.

Nascar is not a windows game. If you look at the files you got with your
Hawaii software, you will find this very nice user guide. You may want to read it,
before posting anymore "bugs".

WE DO NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS 95 IN THIS BETA RELEASE. PERIOD.
Some people might be able to get it to work, but plain & simple, NASCAR
Racing 1.x came out before Win 95, it was never intended to run with Win
95, we do not support the standlone game in Win 95 and we do not support
multiplayer under Win 95.
This is clearly spelled out in the User's Guide.

It appears that you would be the "major bug." =) Here's a
sample from the first page of Hawaii's readme.txt....you might want to
start troubleshooting there:
**** Windows 95 ****
We do not support Windows 95 at this time. If you are a Windows 95
user, you should run multiplayer and/or NASCAR Racing in MS-DOS
exclusive mode.

It is in 'beta' remember that ... report any such incidents to Papyrus as
explained in the hawaii.doc you got as part of the hawaii.exe. Papy has a ton
of new 'programming challanges' to work out here now that there are so many
people up online.

1) Have at least 16mb of memory (32 would be better)
2) write a batch file that contains the following lines:
J: (or whatever drive letter it's installed on)
CD\NASCAR
NASCAR -H
3) Make sure the batch file exists somewhere on your path.
4) When you want to run the game, open a DOS window with screen saving turned
off, and simply type the name of the batch file.
Following these steps, I've never had a problem getting NASCAR Racing to run
under Win95, but like Ed stated, your mileage may vary.
BTW, Ed, I think the hawaii should give you a chance to calibrate your
controls each time it runs the sim. It doesn't always allow that and I
haven't found a way to do it when I want to.

WE DO NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS 95 IN THIS BETA RELEASE.
John,
If you happen to get it working, congratulations. However, we know that
it does not work on everyone's system and we do not want people to use
it. It's tough enough to track down bugs during a beta involving
thousands of people without having people use an operatiing system that
we do not support.
I know you're just trying to help, but you are not helping us.
NO WINDOWS 95!

Sorry if I'm way off base here, but why didn't you just
add the -h parameter into the command line in the properties box.
That is, simply make a shortcut, etc....?

Nice customer relations you're developing there!
Don't worry Ed, it's not like you need people to buy your products. I
mean, what good are consumers anyway?
Idiot!

If you bother to read through this newsgroup, you might notice how much
I/we do support our customers out here. However, in this case, I am
trying to stop people from trying something that we have thoroughly
tested & do not support -- Windows 95 w/ multiplayer NASCAR. And, I am
purposely trying to state it as strongly as possible.
Multiplayer has been under development for over a year & a half. During
that time, we tested it as thoroughly as possible. We put it into open
beta with warnings plastered all over it -- we do not support Windows
95. Yet people are asking how to do it.
The purpose of the open beta is to work any remaining bugs out of the
system, and get as much user feedback as possible. That is why I
monitor this newsgroup 3-4 times/day. However, when I see something
going "wrong", I certainly think it is my perogative to try to set it
straight. I'm sorry if you don't agree with my tone in this particular
thread. Perhaps you should read a few other postings of mine before you
say anything more.
