Nascar Racing: Multi.exe vs. Nascar.exe

by Joel T. Walter » Sat, 07 Sep 1996 04:00:00

I have received a lot of .stg's for multi.exe and when I tried them out
on the multi.exe the driving was very smooth with the wheel. Then I go
back to nascar.exe and the wheel is very loose.  Is there a way to run
the regular game of Nascar with the multi.exe function? I like the way
it drives over the way regular Nascar.exe drives. I would like to
practice in a group  with settings to get good at the wheel and once I
have perfected it then I can go on into Hawaii. If there is a way let me
know thanks.

To my knowlege, there is no way to do what you ask. The reason is that "MULTI"
has updated phisics.

I'm sure that you will get some reply's that will give you more info.

You can run MULTI.EXE on your machine without hooking up to Hawaii.  You
cannot however race against the computer cars.  You could connect with
someone via modem and race 1 on 1.  Papyrus will not release a patch for
NASCAR1 to fix the traction problem.  I guess they want us all to go out
and shell out money for NASCAR2 instead of giving us a finished product.

Just to complete the thought...
If you connect with a friend on MULTI.EXE via modem, you can race against
your buddy as well as a full field of computer cars. Without a modem hookup
however, you can only race by yourself.

Ahh..

If you are one of the very fortunate to get the "multi12b.exe" version, you can
race NASCAR normally with the "traction fixed". Hehehe..

Julian:
If you could provide us poor slobs with details on how to acquire this
"multi12b.exe" version, I would consider your post to be worthwhile.
Otherwise, it sounds a lot like "na, na, na, na, na... na".

The only way to drive against the AI in Multi is to run in a Modem race
with a friend.  But what really caught my interest was when you said you
had a bunch of multi settings.  Could you send me these settings?  My

time getting settings for Nascar.exe and I'm not sure my wife will cotton
to me spending that much time on the computer again with a baby due this
month.

Thanks a million because this will probably save my marriage,

Michael,

You can also race against AI when modem-racing, not just head-to-head. I
thought about hooking up my laptop computer to my desktop computer just so
I could practice passing in MULTI against AI cars.

You can modem race against someone and race against them and the AI cars.
Other than that, you're stuck with Preseason testing.

I have used the Multi.exe program with two computers networked via
IPX. You get 2 human players and a full field of cars. It worked for
me.
