More help please on GLP with new Geforce Card

Someone in the newsgroup kindly sent me where to get the latest stuff for
GPL as I haven't had it on the drive for awhile and have all different gear
since then. Dumped the Voodoo 3 3000 for a Asus Geforce 256 DDR 32Meg Card.
I reinstalled GPL, then the Papy 1.2 upgrade and then the D3D Beta
unsupported patch. Taking that problem first I cut and pasted the profile
and D3D sections into the core ini file and now I get flickering when it
first loads.. When I go to race the flickering goes away and it looks great
in 1024 * 768 but if I quit back to the menus the flickering comes back and
very occasionally comes up when racing. I presume the default settings in
the core ini may need tweaking but I'm ***ignorant about changing these
things. I have a genuine PIII 600 on an Aopen MB with 128 MEG RAM by the
way. The second, less important problem, I guess is that I ran the Firstaid
package that corrects the cars, drivers, pit boeard etc. I chucked it into
the GPL folder and ran the install.bat file and everything seemed to go
through ok but still not got Honda or any of the other changes. I did it
AFTER I patched the game with 1.2 should I have done it before? I know this
goes on a bit but it is such a great game (oops, Sim ) that  I want it to be
perfect.

I think the latest nVIDIA reference drivers sort out the flickering issue (I
don't get any!), but I would love to hear from GeForce 2 owners as to what
the optimal set-up is for all of the bewildering array of video settings
(both Windows/card and GPL specific) for a reasonably fast CPU.

Thanks,

Marc.
