F1-2001/Logitech, Help Please

I was able to get a decent frame rate, but my Logitech wingman formula
force (big red) does not function properly. I choose "accelerate" in
the control menu, and then press the gas pedal. The system responds.
Everything seems okay, and is consistent with F1-2000 while setting up
the controller. But when I enter a race or a test session, the gas
pedal does not respond.  The gas pedal responds in the garage, but
once player control is switched the gas pedal does not respond.  Every
other function works (brake, gears, steering).  The same controller
works fine in F1-2000 and sports car GT.  F1-2001 is a very
frustrating experience!!!

Note:  I've also noticed that you cannot use the Logitech wheel (usb)
and a four button game pad (Gameport) at the same time.  Whenever I do
this, the Logitech does not work properly in any game.   I tried
switching controller IDs. The problem still exists.  I cannot use the
two controllers at the same time. One controller has to be removed for
the other controller to function properly.  I'm running Win2k Sp2
Logitech wingman 4.00 software.

I've been involved in computers since 1993 and sim racers since "world
circuit".   I've raced papy's "Indy car racing", Ubisofts f1 racers,
and "GP2" extensively.  I've also played several other games but I
prefer the sim racers. After years of dealing with frustrating
software/hardware windows incompatibilities I'm about to give it up.
Windows sucks!!  This is coming from a from a former computer
technician and current programmer.   I thought that entertainment was
supposed to be enjoyable, not frustrating.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks >> Tony

Are you sure it's not the pit lane speed limiter?  ('L' is the default).  I
would have thought not for races, but you never know.  I'm using W2KP+LWFF
(the red one) and all is well.  Apart from waiting for FORCE FEEDBACK EA.
<sorry>

BTW I think I had the same problem with the Logi and ID's.  Fairly sure I
got it working but assigning ID1 to the gamepad and ID2 to the Logi - but
this was under W98 - I now dual-boot.

I know what you mean about all the t**ting around with Windows.  I finally
got a decent F12K framerate by using the 'right' drivers, only to find that
I cannot play Shogun:TW any more.  Grr.
