N4 freezes

I can't even get past the menus, assign car, turn graphics options down,
etc., before N4 locks up.  The mouse still moves, but all else is
frozen.  I've reinstalled numerous times, defragmented drives, it just
seems to get worse.  I only have an AMD K6/2-400, 64 MB ram, new
Hercules Prophet II MX (older ATI card only gave me 2-5 fps).  On the
few occasions I've made it thru the menus, I get 25 fps.  I've switched
around a few CMOS options, no help.  Anyone have any suggestions?  My
reset button is getting worn out because of this.

ps
I've cntrl alt del and closed down all programs except explored and
systray.

Thanks,
Bill S.

Might be a driver issue, make sure you update your drivers, especially your
sound card driver.  Good luck.

Try to switch off the 4x agp setting in bios if enabled. That works for me
and I really cant see any difference in other games.
