I tried it as well and couldn't get below a 57.

Its got to much understeer on turn in and too much over steer on the
exit for my liking and the wheel lock seemed a little low.

Re. the braking point - full tilt down the straight, I brake at the
fence post just before the hoardings on the wall and I can get into
turn 1 no problem.

Way too much downforce too. I was getting out-dragged by the computer
cars on the main straight.

Just out of interest Jed, what is your best lap at Long Beach. I think
the record is somewhere about the 52 second mark but I am nowhere near
that. An extra tenth off my best is a major achievement for me !

Well in the good old days of ICR1 Steve and I could easily pop 50's.
Now that The Pits has come about, work and other stuff, I haven't
played ICR2 that much (still some tracks I havent tried!) so I'm
bimbling around doing 56's.

[snip]

: This track is getting on my nerves; I was hoping to break the "track
: records" for all the tracks, and Michigan and Laguna were pretty easy.
: But I've really met a challenge with this track! I may just take a
: break from it for awhile.

You know sometimes that it is the solution.  You may be too close to the
situation now.  Give it a rest, come back to it in awhile.  You may find
that the important things about attacking the track will still be tucked
away in a corner of your brain and all of the bad things about your
approach will be flushed out.  It happens to me...  So be careful it
could happen to you...

After much practice I've managed a 52.8 using Michael Wollenschein's
setup from his home page. The key to a really fast lap here seems to
be the start of the right-left-right combination before the back
straight and the right hander at the end of the back straight. Both of
them require a very progressive throttle on the exit to avoid
scrubbing off speed. I have gained a lot of time by changing my
driving style from standing on the throttle and brake to being much
more progressive. My braking distances have decreased, and
acceleration is improved. I'm a happy chap - at least at Long Beach !

God only knows how Michael W. and the others on Compuserve have got
sub-52 second laps though....

: I'd love to see Darrell Cherry's 50.9...

It's been on didnt.doit.wisc.edu for ftp bro :). It should be there,
unless Peter has done some spring cleaning. LEt me know if it's not
there and I'll re-upload it. And, ahem, it's a 50.87 ;).

I went to
http://didnt.doit.wisc.edu/Peter/longbeachhot3.html
and it didn't appear to be available there. I'd very much like to see
that lap- the best I can do is a  52.724

Just so I am sure, you did it with ICR2, right? wow.
Good job.

I've done a 151.289 at LB in ICR2 and have the replay if anyone is
interested. Also have a 131.759 at Australia. Love the sim and the
Indycars but spend most of my time in the nascars. I'm in the NASSCAR
WC series.
Anyone know where I can get a scaled drawing of an Indycar or F1
car? I'm working on designing a***pit.
