CART PR: Video Jumping in Demo

I have been trying the CPR demo version, and I am wondering if anyone
with the full version can tell me if the video hangs (less than 0.5
seconds) are reduced at all.  I have tried deleting and reinstalling
the game with no improvement.  Granted, I do not have a 3d card (well,
the one I have doesn't support z-buffering: ATI 3d Rage I), so I know
I am taking a big hit on performance, but fps is more secondary to
getting rid of the jumpiness.  Does anyone have any better idea for
reducing this?

System:
200mhz Pentium Classic
32 MB Ram
ATI 3d Rage I /Mach 64 video on the Motherboard
MS Sidewinder Pro 3d Joystick - Interrupt Polling Off

In the Game:
***pit off
HUD up
640X480 - Good (fastest) detail
counter shows 14-20 fps in practice session.

I am trying to wait and get a Voodoo 2 card when they are released, so
I know about that.

One more question:  How can I increase steering lock to get through
the corkscrew?  If I move both sliders to the right (Non-linear and
Speed Sensitive) the car will not turn worth a damn.  Any other
suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Steering lock is adjusted in the garage.

Try this for the pauses:-
Control Panel - Game Controllers - Advanced - UNcheck "Poll with interrupts"
Any improvement?
