HELP - GPL & W98SE

by Sergio Magn » Mon, 13 May 2002 00:27:11

I used GPL in W98 and it worked very well, but with great disappoint it
doesn't work in W98 Second Edition.
The simulation hangs up on the game logo and it need to reset the computer.
Game version 1.2.01
Sierra customer service said that it's a driver poblem for the video and
sound card, but currently I'm using the latest ones around for my Sound
Blaster PCI 128 and Matrox Millennium G450.
Did anyone experience this kind of problem?
I'll be grateful for any suggestion.

Have you applied the D3D patch ?

Just asking because your vid card isn't supported by the original
release of GPL

Whatever your problems running GPL are, its not because of Win98SE.  There are plenty of us running
it on 98SE.

Are you using the Direct3D driver? The original GPL only supports 3dfx
and Rendition (and software, which is awful). If you need it, go and
get the D3D patch now, and - if your machine is fast (say over 1.3 GHz)
- you'll need the CPU speed patch as well. Good luck!

Incidentally, Win98SE is generally the best version for most things -
for example One-Two-3DO (used in track editing) doesn't work *at all*
on my WinXP system, but has no more than the usual number of crashes on
my Win98SE one...
