Are you using the Direct3D driver? The original GPL only supports 3dfx
and Rendition (and software, which is awful). If you need it, go and
get the D3D patch now, and - if your machine is fast (say over 1.3 GHz)
- you'll need the CPU speed patch as well. Good luck!
Incidentally, Win98SE is generally the best version for most things -
for example One-Two-3DO (used in track editing) doesn't work *at all*
on my WinXP system, but has no more than the usual number of crashes on
my Win98SE one...
