Nas2 Demo on AMD 5x86

by Bad Luc » Wed, 25 Sep 1996 04:00:00

After DL'ing the demo the 'read me' file says minimum req Pentium /16
Meg Ram. I have the 16 Megs of Ram but no Pentium. Trying the program
anyway with my AMD 5x86 133 the demo crashes at the "drive" selection
with a "Dos4GW error message".

Is there a workaround (or other cause)or will it not run on the AMD CPU?
Anyone running the Nas2 Demo with an AMD 5x86 133?

Any help appreciated...
Thanks

I too have an AMD133 w/16mb RAM and I'm not gonna d'load the demo until
I know fer sure if I can indeed run it. Looks like we might have to wait
until the thing ships before we can join in...oh well, by then it'll be
better anyway...

I tried it too....  Yeah. I know.  It says "Pentium required" and I thought it
might have been that way so you'd have enough speed to run it.  Since we (AMD133
users) know that the AMD133 blows the doors off the P60, I tried it.
Mine crashes and does a code-dump to the screen.  Consistent.  Same place.

It looks like the program is using at least some Pentium specific code.   I do hope
they will make the final version run on a 486 - as some of the 5x86 models are
running 160 mhz now.  Certainly enough horsepower.

I'm running a AMD486-133 with 16mb of ram. I can get into
the garage, and everything. However, when i click on "race" to start
driving, the game locks up. I took a chance on getting around the
Pentium requirement. Didn't work. Oh well, I'll wait till November.

My AMD133 crashes too with a DOS4GW error. Probably the whole game will work
better.
