Picked up my new motherboard and 5x86 133mhz processor today. $150 U.S.!!
All I can say is: WOW!!
I am VERY impressed. Big bang for the buck!! I had a Cyrix 486dx2/80, and I could
only run in SVGA with NO detail on, and it still was barely "choppy", but smooth
enough to race. (20 opponents) Now I can run ALL detail except grass and asphalt
texture, and it runs smoother than with the 80mhz!!! For those keeping track, m/b
is vlb, with cheap-o 1mb Trident vlb video, 16mb 60ns RAM, average hard drive. I
recommend this upgrade as a "fix" untill you can afford a pentium. By the way, at
work I just set up a new Gateway P-133, with 2mb Matrox Mellinium pci, 32mb RAM,
and it runs SMOOTH AS SILK with ALL detail on. Machine ran about $4,000 U.S., with
6x cd-rom, and other needless crap.

==================
Cool, eh?
I upgraded from a 386 to the 5x86-133 and it's mind-boggling the
performance increase.

Where did you buy at that price?   I'm looking for at least one more of
these!
