Someone probably has suggested this at some point, but how about
a Super-Handicap ranking for GPLRank, which equals the average of
all your seven chassis handicaps? That would be some added incentive
for me to force myself to drive the Honda... ;)

I like this idea!  I've always made a point to try all the cars at all
the tracks, so maybe I'd have a decent ranking for a couple of weeks
until the fast guys got around to running a few laps in the BRM.

Hehe, that's a good idea! Then we'll all have to master the BRM to be any
good. I'm already half way there as I can lap the ring in just under 2 hours
in it<g>

Another idea, which would work perfectly with the other classes, is to
get rid of the idea of ranking everyone against the default replay laps.
Instead of that, just rank everyone against everyone else *in their class*.

Short answer, there would hardly be anybody on the list.
It's on my list of GPL goals to work on a rank for each car, but I currently
only have two, Lotus and BRM, and I'm working on Ferrari.
I haven't done any checking, but I'll bet that few people have a rank for all
chassis, and more important, very few of them will have worked hard enough to
have a meaningful rank for each.

Your rank number relative to the replays is only a starting point Mike, which
you can use in isolation to gauge your own progress, but as soon as you are on
one of the many GPLRank lists, you ARE comparing yourself to others, the rank
system just gives you the scale to measure by. Also, it is possible right now
to compare yourself to others using any combination of: chassis, track, country
or car class, and do it using laptimes or rankings. Multiple Choice Hell allows
all this.

In their class?  How do you decide that?  Or, are you talking about 'favorite
car'?

My ranking normally is 28.xx.  My rank in the BRM is 120.xx... :(
That's the only one over 100 - the Honda is at about 96.

<snipped>>

The problem with that is, IMO, twofold:
1st; How do you define someone's class? do you mean F1, F2, F3  by chassis
etc?
2nd, it does take away the benchmark. For anyone who has a positive
handicap, the thing youre always working towards is to go negative (it was
for me) take that away, and people may lose interest.

At least you HAVE ones for BRM and Honda. ;)

Yeah, I ran them all.  I was bored one weekend.  I don't have times for all the
cars in F2 or F3 yet, though.  I'd guess that the difference would probably be
similar.
